A method for inner transformation through the power of the heart
I have recently subscribed to Gaia, a new spiritual version of Netflix. I had known them for a couple of years but always hesitated in signing up for the paid subscription. Coronavirus confinement and a 7-day trial has given me the perfect excuse to give it a try. To my surprise, I could find a lot of interesting stuff beyond their highly featured alien and conspiracy theory programs. I discovered a wealth of new science programs and series that feature interesting content, one of the series that really surprised me was Rewired by Joe Dispenza.
The Rewired series is made up of 13 episodes, 30 minutes each, in which Joe Dispenza guides us into the process of human inner transformation. His approach is integrative and blends scientific language with various disciplines such as yoga, kundalini meditation, biology, neuropsychology, genetics, and quantum physics. Joe Dispenza makes a phenomenal work explaining spiritual and ancestral knowledge into scientific and demonstrable facts that explain in lay terms how inner transformation works and how it can be achieved.
The new science of inner transformation
The mind has been the primary focus in the science of inner transformation, that is why most of the modern techniques and methods are geared towards enhancing your brainpower. For decades western self-development gurus have worked around the psychology of motivation, neuro-linguistic programming, habit programming, and mindset modification. The psychology of inner transformation since Napoleon Hill seems to have as the main focus the power of the mind. They have applied theories from cognitive and behavioral psychology to create programs and methods for achieving success and happiness.
In psychology and sciences of inner transformation very little is mentioned about the spirit, the heart, and anything beyond the reality of the third dimension.
Rewired dives us into a new scientific frontier of human development assembling a series that weaves, spirituality, neurosciences and quantum field theory to explain inner transformation beyond the third dimension of the physical and constrained by space and time.
The heart, a second mind
To understand heart we must first reconcile with the fact that the heart is an intelligent organ like the brain, in other words, the heart is a mind of its own. Complex neural networks in the heart that play an important role in the personality and emotional wellbeing of humans. It is one of the most important energy centers in the body which has been studied for millennia by all the ancient traditions. Modern science has approached the study of the heart as the main organ of the circulatory system but it has left aside its role in human emotion and personality.
Recently with the increase in heart transplant surgeries, many unusual changes in personality have been noticed by heart surgeon Paul Pearsal.
Extended research on heart transplant donors pioneered by Dr. Pearsal has demonstrated how heart transplant recipients parallel the personality traits of their anonymous donors. Parallels included changes in food, music, art, sexual, recreational, and career preferences, as well as specific instances of perceptions of names and sensory experiences related to the donor. (Pearsal, 2000)
Pearsal’s research explores a new frontier in science that is leading cardiology into neuroscience and psychology research. Long term studies on heart transplant recipients are the initial proof that the heart also plays an important role in the personality of human beings. These new qualities of the heart that have been unfolding through scientific evidence have been common knowledge in ancient traditions that range from eastern philosophy, Vedic and Hindu tradition, and pre-American shamanism.
Heart Coherence, harmonizing the mind and heart
For ancient Hindu tradition, the heart is represented by Anahata the heart chakra located on the chest. The heart chakra is associated with feelings of:
- Love for oneself and others
- Compassion, empathy
- Forgiveness, acceptance
- Transformation, change
- Ability to grieve and reach peace
The heart is the center of awareness, integration of insights, and a foundational chakra that plays a significant role in achieving balance and inner peace. Since ancient yogic tradition harmonizing the mind and heart has been a key purpose of the practice.
Heart coherence is basically the ability to harmonize your heart and mind. Without heart coherence, a misaligned mind and heart can create intentions and thoughts that do not harbor feelings of joy, compassion, nor gratitude. This inconsistency has been shown to affect not only the emotional state of the person but also their physical health, being able to produce diseases such as coronary conditions and even cancer.
Many times we plan our lives from the mind without taking into account our feelings and emotions. Many times those feelings are so repressed by our inability to listen to them that we completely ignore them. Ignoring the heart vibration leads us into an energetic inconsistency that can lead to illness or misery.
Carrying out a job that we do not like, being with a partner that makes our lives bitter, or carrying out an activity that we dislike is a sign of inconsistency with the heart.
In summary, heart coherence is the harmonization between thought and emotion, by identifying these energetic nuclei, we can bless them through a technique Joe Dispenza calls de Blessing of the Energy Centers.
Blessing of the Energy Centers
The practical approach to heart coherence is to harmonize the mind and heart through the different energy centers known as chakras. In Rewired Joe Dispenza proposes a very simple meditation practice he calls Blessing of the Energy Centers. This meditation similar to the Kundalini meditation is based on the visualization of these energy centers and the focus of the chakras with attention and intention.
The Blessing of the Energy Centers meditation is basically a modern name for a chakras meditation. It is designed to activate the pineal gland that according to recent studies, increasing blood flow and oxygen levels through deep breathing manages to stimulate calcite crystals in the gland that stimulate astral vision and expanded states of consciousness. It is no mystery that the pineal gland is the main producer of dimethyltryptamine DMT in the brain and that this molecule is responsible for entheogenic, near-death experiences and encounters with divinity. It is well known that sages throughout history have used both meditation and entheogens, such as mushrooms and ayahuasca to achieve these expanded states of consciousness where the ego dissolves into the totality of the universal consciousness.
Joe Dispenza simplifies the meditation method in order to achieve pineal gland stimulation and have a beyond the senses experience.
Diving into the Fifth Dimension; the realm beyond the senses
One of the most interesting concepts in the series is the concept of the Fifth Dimension, or as Joe Dispenza calls it, the dimension beyond our senses. Unlike the third dimension which is the dimension of the senses, the body, the fifth dimension goes from matter to energy. In other words, it is the point where the human being transcends the material reality and transcends into the energetic or spiritual reality.
To give some examples we could say that in the fifth dimension we go from:
Attention to objects and people, attention to energy, and information.
- The state of separation and duality, to unity and totality.
- The world of limited possibilities, to the world where everything is possible.
- The domain of the senses, to the domain beyond the senses.
- From the realm of eternal space to the realm of eternal time
- From the known to the unknown.
- Domain of the senses to the domain beyond the senses.
- From the 3D Newtonian model to the 5D quantum model
The 5D reality is a realm of spiritual ascension that according to Dispenza we can achieve by harmonizing our energy centers and achieving heart coherence, the true energy balance between our heart and mind.
